Event Description:
The Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with FordHarrison, is excited to provide Labor Law and Human Resources for our investors and members of the business community. This series provides necessary information to keep your business compliant in 2019. Attendees are eligible for pre-approval for continuing education credits from SHRM and HRCI. Please note that each session will start promptly at 8:30am to allow for the full 1.5 CE credits. Forms will be provided at the session and signed upon completion.

April 9: Labor & Employment Update – What Happened in 2018 and What is Coming Up in 2019 That Employers Need to Know.  Presented by Wade Ballard
 
April 23: Wage & Hour Update – What has the Trump Department of Labor Done, and What Will it Do Next?  Learn about key minimum wage and overtime compliance issues through a look at the U.S. DOL’s actions during the Trump administration and what major changes are expected to be coming soon. Presented by Grant Close
 
May 14: Labor Update & Protective Concerted Activity for the Non-Union and the Unionized Employer.  In recent years the NLRB overruled long standing precedent and engaged in rulemaking that placed additional burdens on Employers. The new composition of the NLRB has started the process of unwinding these decisions. This session will focus on the current status of these changes and what to expect in the near future. May 28: Protecting Company Assets:  Best Practices for Drafting and Enforcing Non-Competition and Restrictive Covenant Agreements.  Presented by Jeffrey Lehrer
 
June 11: HIPAA & Healthcare Records – What’s Protected and What Isn’t.  HIPAA privacy law is widely misunderstood.  Understanding the unique challenges facing institutions regarding privacy concerns and access to protected health information is critical to preventing missteps.  Presented by Kristin Gray
 
June 25: 10 Tips for Avoiding Employment Litigation.  Most people have heard the phrase, “Anyone can sue for anything.”  While this is true to an extent, these practical tips for active employee management have been shown to avoid claims or put your company in the best position to defend a claim. Presented by Matt Gilley
