About Us

With a vision to afford an additional dining opportunity in the Spartanburg area focusing on quality food in congenial surroundings, Walter Montgomery founded The Piedmont Club of Spartanburg. The organizational meeting of the Club’s sponsors was held June 5, 1941. A.B. Taylor was elected the first president and served in this capacity until 1943.
What is currently the Kate Barry Room initially served as the dining room. To accommodate larger functions, additional tables were placed in what today are known as the Chinquepin Room and the Second Parlor. The Palmetto Room was added in the early 1970’s. In response to a growing membership several additions have been completed throughout the years.
Over seventy-five years later, a spirit of initiative, energy, and leadership prevails. The Board of Governors is committed to strengthening and preserving the Club’s position, maintaining an atmosphere that Members desire. Through recent studies, both the Club’s immediate and future needs have been well defined.
