Christened The Showplace of the South, since 1951, The Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium has showcased national talent, local entertainment, sporting events, banquets, and trade shows. Through the years the auditorium has hosted top name acts including Taylor Swift, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Journey, Brad Paisley, Tyler Perry and family shows like Sesame Street Live and Disney Junior Live. The Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium is the Carolina's largest theater located in downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina, at 385 N Church St. Built in 1951 SMA consists of two separate venues under one roof. The Auditorium is a 3,244-seat theater with an 83'9"-by-86' stage and a 1,600-seat Exhibit Hall with 13,638 square feet of exhibit space. The Hall is SMA's lower-level concert and events venue ideal for live entertainment, trade shows, and banquets. The Hall has a GA concert capacity of up to 1300 and boasts upper-level balcony seating on both sides of its large open floor space. With concert style lighting and sound, two newly renovated and fully equipped dressing rooms, full capacity kitchen/concessions facilities, and its own separate parking, box office, and entrance, The Hall's versatility offers an ideal space for any event, banquet, or concert.
